NATIONAL BLACK CATHOLIC CONGRESS IX

The National Black Catholic Congress (NBCC) IX took place in Chicago August 29 – September 1, 2002, at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago, IL. More than 3000 people were in attendance at the spirit-filled event. The NBCC provided attendees with opportunities to worship cohesively, network, increase Black Catholic solidarity, and to establish a Pastoral Plan of Action on various issues including racism, social justice, Catholic education, parish life, HIV/AIDS, and evangelization in the broader population. To view a video on the NBCC IX, please visit the following web site: www.atlanticvideo.com/clients/ccom.

Conference attendees took advantage of the Afrocentric bazaar on site, which offered a variety of goods from our motherland for sale. Fr. Clarence Williams, CPPS, Ph.D. recently authored a book entitled Racial Sobriety which was also introduced at the NBCC IX. 1,000 copies of this book were available for sale after his presentation. We are pleased to report that all copies were sold in fifteen minutes. The book is $16 and available for sale at Catholic Book Stores. Detroit area stores are located inside Sacred Heart Major Seminary, 2701 Chicago at the corner of Linwood street (313.865.0230), and at 1232 Washington Boulevard in downtown Detroit between State and Grand River streets (313.962.4490.) For more information please visit the following web site: www.ifrfr.org.

Thank you for your support!

Sankofa Tee-shirts are now available for sale and can be ordered for $20 at the webpage of the Black Catholic Information Mall: www.bcimall.org/Sakofa500.
